Mold Clearance Inspection-Is it needed?

First of all what is it? This is an inspection by an independent 3 party to inspect behind the restoration company that performs a microbial (mold and bacteria) remediation. That is, the removal of mold and bacteria from a given area or room. The Mold Clearance Inspection or Post Mold Remediation Clearance Inspection is to verify that the area remediated is clean, dry and free of mold and bacteria to within industry standards.  This is done with the use of moisture meters, air/surface samples for mold and bacteria and visual confirmation certifying the remediation is complete to within industry standards.

It is always recommended that this inspection be done since a significant number of these inspections do not pass, usually about 1/3 will fail for one reason or another the on the first inspection. It is important that the  area inspected PASS the inspection establishing that the remediated area is ready for repairs and no health risks are posed to the occupants. This gives a much-needed peace of mind to the companies involved but  especially to the occupants of the dwelling.
