Food for Mold?

Many people don’t realize that when drywall gets wet or damp it is like ‘FOOD FOR MOLD’. That is why it is important to address any seeming wetness/dampness near drywall which would include your baseboard trim on the floor at the bottom of the wall.

What can happen, like in a bathroom, normal tub/shower use can result with water on the floor near the base at some point which can get under any gaps of the baseboard to the floor and get the wood sill plate wet then absorb into the drywall over time such as weeks and start growing mold from the inside out!

It does not take much moisture, about 17%, to start the mold growing process. So be watchful about little spills or water on the floor around the house especially in the bath and kitchen areas.
